An Egypt court on Monday sentenced five foreigners to a fine of more than $12 million and death by hanging for drug smuggling, Itar-Tass reported.
The ‘international group’ had attempted to smuggle into Egypt 3 tons of hashish, local media reported.
All the convicted are sailors, including one British citizen, one Pakistani and three men from Seychelles.
The Pakistani was sentenced in absentia. Their boat was seized in Egypt territorial waters in 2011.
