HAVANA,- The 7th International Ophthalmology Congress,to be held here on June 29-31, will draw experts from 15 countries, the conference's organizers said Tuesday.
Over 600 Cuban experts will attend the meeting to showcase the country's latest developments in ophthalmological research, carried out over the past few years in conjunction with "Mission Miracle," a joint Cuba-Venezuela program launched in 2004 to provide free eye care to those in need.
The program has benefited more than 2 million people throughout Latin America.
The experts will also hear about the latest advances in prevention of blindness, treatment of ocular tumors and international ophthalmological cooperation, among other things.
Parallel to the international event, Cuba will also hold its 15th National Ophthalmology Congress.
Havana hosted the 6th international ophthalmology meeting four years ago, with the participation of 500 Cuban and 100 foreign physicians.
