Aid meeting of Syrian rebels ends fruitlessly in Turkey: report

ANKARA, June 21- The talks between the Syrian rebels and Western officials in Turkey last weekend ended without any concrete fruits, Turkish Daily News reported Friday.

U.S. representatives and officials from other Western countries held meetings with Salim Idris, commander of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) last weekend, focusing on further supporting the FSA, including offering weapons, said the report.

However, Louay al-Mokdad, political and media coordinator of the FSA, indicated to reporters after the meetings that the talks failed to make any progress on giving more military aid to the rebels.

The armed Syrian rebels had asked the West to provide weapons and establish a no-fly zone to support their battles against the Syrian government troops.
