Two people were killed after a series of explosions rocked a fireworks factory west of Montreal Thursday morning, police told the Associated Press.
The blasts at the B.E.M. Fireworks factory near Valleyfield, Quebec, appeared to level the building, with subsequent fireworks still crackling hours after the initial explosion.
Police said they recovered two bodies from the wreckage, but did not give their names.
A massive cloud of smoke that could be seen for miles billowed from the charred remains of what appears to be the factory.
Police evacuated the nearby community of Coteau-du-Lac. The cause of the explosions remains unknown.
